There have been a lot of ideas already done in the adverts, so i am going to have to come up with a completely new concept of 'destroying' a cream egg.

Chosen Short Film Idea
The Chosen idea for my short film is going to be a cadburys cream egg advert. I have done a lot of research on short stop motion adverts and have decided that this is the best one for me to do. It will be about 30 seconds long and will have a soundtrack of noises, no music or narrations.

Stop Motion Video Research
For my video that i am going to be creating for my A2 photography project, i have decided to do a stop motion video. There are thousands of different types of stop motion movie genres, some more common then others.
In my research i found a person named 'PES' who makes some really original and entertaining stop motion videos that have really inspired me into what i want to do for my stop motion video. Below is an example of one of his videos...
Street Photography
My topic for my A2 photography course was street photography. I chose this as i think photos look there best when there is no staging or fake emotion is involved.
Famous street photographers include Henri Cartier Bresson, Dorothea Lange etc. etc. Below i have included a few of my own photos that i have taken over the course in different locations, including London and Brighton.
I hope too add a lot more to my portfolio and experiment with different types of shots to make sure none of my work gets boring.

Treatment
duration
I am hoping to create my short film to a duration of about 5 minutes, preferably no more/no less.
-Maximum time of 6 mins.
-Minimum of 4 mins.
form (still, moving etc)
form (still, moving etc)
My plans for my short film are either to have either a stop motion film, or a film similar to Stefan Nadelman's 'Terminal Bar' as i think these are alot more relevant to my photography course, rather then using a film camera, which is not what i particularly want to do in photography.
- Stop Motion short film.
- Film made from random images, ordered by narration .
narrative
narrative
As i am either making a stop motion or a picture film, i am going to need to have a narrator,i will build up a script and plot, record the narration, then add it into my movie. It will be simple yet mysterious to add effect to my film.
- My narration will depend on what type of movie i create (i.e. fast, slow, happy sad etc.)
- I will make sure it is clear and well spoken, standing out above the music.
sound
sound
I will probably be adding a sound track to my short film, once it has been created, and addapt it so it fits in under my naration.
- Yet to decide on soundtrack.

Short Film Analysis - About A Girl

'About A Girl' - Brian Percival (2001)
The effects that Brain Percival has used in his 9 minute short film 'About A Girl' have created a really effective movie with deep meaning and emotion. The constant changing angle of the shot of the girl, whilst smoothly cruising along side her (possibly on a trolley or in a car) made for a tense scene. The constant draining of colour throughout the film shows that the girl is getting more and more depressed, till the final riddance of her hidden child, as she flings it into the canal, followed by the sun coming out, representing the freedom of her.
Some of the shots used would have been very hard to get, with some underwater ones, where he used someone's swimming pool, an over head shot where he must have used some sort of crane to lift him up above the canal.
Overall i thought the film was very interesting and really sucked me into watching it. It has given me some good ideas if i ever come to making a short film.

Toning

Toning uses a selection of differnt coloured dyes, know as a "toner", to add colour to a black and white image. Our school has a selection of two differnt toner's, sepia and blue. i experimented with both of the colours on prints that i had produced from a film. Over all i was a bit disappointed with the outcome of my prints, but i believe that after a few goes i could produce a nice print.
Steps Of Toning
1. Soak the selected print in a tray of water for at least 1 minute.
2. Move the soaked print into a tray of bleach, making sure the whole print is covered and leave in till you think the print is faint enough (about 2-3 minutes).
3. Rinse off the bleach thoroughly then add the print to the toner, leaving the colour to soak into the print, taking it out when you think it is ready (about 1-2 minutes).

Poster Art

To the left is my first attempt at creating poster art. Overall i managed fairly well with it and am pleased with the poster i have created. The only thing i struggled with was colouring the poster, during the construction of the poster i arranged the layers wrong making it hard for me to bring out the colours without moving the order of the layers around. I am deffinatly going to have another go at this with my own images, hopfully getting the order correct allowing me to colour it in with the large range of differnt brushes.
How I created it
- The first step (once all of the images are uploaded) is to desaturate the images using a histogram.
- Once the images are desaturated, the features on the images need to be burned and dodged, finally to get the poster effect the image is stamped (go to filter>sketch>stamp)
This is as far as i got with my poster, but hopfully with my next attempt i will be able to update and add colour.
